Q: What is the wisdom of Qurbani?

A: The central theme of Qurbani is submission to the Will of Allah Ta'ala and sacrificing everything for His pleasure. It is a Sunnah (practice) of Ibrahim (Alayhis Salaam) and the Ambiya (Alayhimus Salaam).

Sacrificing an animal is an act that symbolizes this philosophy. Qurbani calls for the slaughter of one's egoistic traits such as hatred, jealousy, pride, base desires, lust, greed, animosity, love for the world and other such maladies of the heart.
