Hazrat Anas (R) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Every nation has a trustworthy person. The trustworthy person of this Ummah is Abu Ubaidah ibnul Jarrah t.” (Bukhari,Muslim,Tirmizi, ibn Majah)

Ibn Abi Mulaikah (R) narrates that he heard Hazrat Aisha (RA) being asked, “If Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) had to appoint anyone as the Khalifah, who would he have appointed?” Hazrat Aisha (RA) replied, “Abu Bakr t.” The questioner then asked, “Who after Abu Bakr (R)?” Hazrat Aisha (RA) replied, “Umar t.” She was then asked, “Who after Umar t?” She replied, “Abu Ubaidah ibnul Jarrah (R).
