Every Ramadan, Darul Ihsan Centre - through its ‘Muslim Empowerment Fund’ (MEF) - facilitates an Iftar programme in certain disadvantaged areas. The idea is to bring the nourishment of good food and happiness to those who do not normally enjoy this privilege in Ramadan.

This year a total of 12 areas in the greater Durban metro have been identified and supplied with Iftar.

Some of the areas served are Newlands East, Castlehill, Mount Moria, Westrich, Kenville, Lindelani, Hillgrove, Inanda, Waterloo and Malagazi. Approximately five hundred people are served Iftar meals daily in these areas. The Iftar includes dates, cooked meals, savouries and refreshments.

Generous donations and sponsorships from individuals, businesses and corporates helped in funding this programme.
